Pitching Lead

Marcus Hatley

Marcus grew up in San Diego County. After four years of varsity at Mar Vista High School and Mission Hills High, Marcus was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 2006 MLB Draft. He played a year at Palomar Junior College before signing with the Cubs, spending 7 years in their farm system before signing with the St. Louis Cardinals and making his MLB pitching debut in 2015. After his playing career, Marcus worked as Director of Player Development at Florida Baseball Ranch under the tutelage of renowned physical therapist Randy Sullivan, where he merged his own experience and expertise with what he learned from Randy to perfect the training techniques he’s bringing back to San Diego to give back to the community that shaped him.

Strength Lead

Andy Givens

Andy comes from Richmond, Virginia, where for nine years he owned and operated AG Performance, a baseball performance-based strength and conditioning facility. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and is also an OnBaseU and Driveline-Certified pitching coach. In addition to overseeing strength development, he also coaches athletes in nutrition, movement prep, and recovery methods, the backbones to improving player performance.

Hitting Lead

Gunn Omasako

Gunn is a seasoned baseball professional from São Paulo, Brazil, with a rich international background. Excelling in the Brazilian league at a young age led to his recruitment by Brazil’s top high-performance academy, sponsored by Tokyo Yakult Swallows of NPB Japan. His participation in World Cups, WSBC Qualifiers, and Pan-American Games showcased his talent, leading to a professional career with the Seattle Mariners. As a center fielder and power hitter, Gunn’s time in the Dominican Republic deepened his understanding of Latino Baseball, blending it with the discipline of Japanese baseball. His U.S. experience with the Mariners further honed his skills in one of the world’s top baseball cultures. Now, as a high-performance coach fluent in Spanish, Gunn is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of athletes.

Softball Lead

Ava Kopperschlager

Ava, originally from Colorado, has an impressive athletic and coaching background, having played college softball at three different schools as a left-handed pitcher and hitter. She now coaches at the City College, the JUCO where she played, bringing nearly 10 years of coaching experience alongside 20 years of playing experience. Ava holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and is currently pursuing her master's. Passionate about enhancing the culture of softball, Ava believes in the powerful connection between mindset and performance. Her coaching philosophy is rooted in the idea that if your mind can believe it, your body can achieve it. With her high-level playing background and deep understanding of sports psychology, Ava is committed to helping athletes reach their full potential both mentally and physically
