Giving Back to the Game that Gave So Much to Us

Twenty years ago, baseball brought us together. Matt McLoughlin, Andy Givens, and Bobby Basham were teammates on the University of Richmond Baseball Team. The intervening years took all of us in different directions.
Andy Givens
Specialized in strength, conditioning, and player nutrition, opening his own baseball specific strength and conditioning facility in Richmond, Va.
Bobby Basham
Became a professional pitcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization before transitioning into front office roles, serving as Director of Player Development and working within R&D for the Chicago Cubs.
Our friendship kept us connected over the years, but our love of the game brought us back together. After finding ourselves in the San Diego area, we formed Union Baseball Systems so that we could give back to the game that gave so much to us.
We saw a gap in the San Diego market for progressive, pro-style baseball training. With input from our former teammate, Tim Stauffer, a former pro for the San Diego Padres, we launched Union Baseball Systems. Shortly afterwards, we added Jordan Verdon, a local SDSU player and former pro to be our Lead Hitting Instructor, becoming the first fully integrated baseball specific training facility in San Diego.
Our goal with Union Baseball Systems is to empower baseball players to achieve their goals and maximize their ability – giving them access to insights from the pro experience and the best possible systems for player development.
